Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender.
Every skilled debater knows that the easiest way to go off track is to attack your opponent personally rather than the topic on the table. And by this point in our nation’s history, everyone outside the cult of personality currently holding the purse strings and the nuclear codes knows that personally attacking opponents is about the only thing the MAGA cult knows how to do. They take their cues from Dear Leader.
“Quiet. Quiet, Piggy!” “You are a terrible reporter;” “You are a loser with BAD ratings;” “You’re really obnoxious;” “Your network is a disaster;” “You should be embarrassed asking that question;” “You don’t listen! You never listen. That’s why you’re second-rate.” Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.
Another trait regularly exhibited by Dear Leader is to deny knowing anyone who gets caught and/or convicted of committing a crime or presents some kind of controversy: Jeffrey Epstein, Paul Manafort, E. Jean Carroll, and Stormy Daniels. He denied knowing Matt Whitaker two days after appointing him Acting Attorney General. Doh!
Arrogance and ignorance are a lethal combination.
The consequences of the last election have resulted in our country being run by a gang of bullies who are lining their pockets with our tax dollars. This is clear to anyone who pays attention to legitimate, verified reporting rather than the propaganda spoon-fed to them by Karoline Leavitt, Fox News, Newsmax, or the Dear Leader himself.
Ever notice how MAGA cult members rarely say what they are FOR? It’s always about what they are against, how all the media is “fake news,” how all of ‘us’ are stupid, brainwashed, or suffering from TDS. What I hear most (in Charlie Brown’s teacher’s voice) is: “Blah-Blah-Blah-Blame Biden.”
In other words: THEY’VE GOT NOTHING!
They won’t admit that they support a convicted felon, a serial adulterer found liable for sexual abuse, a failed businessman with six bankruptcies to his name, on top of the 34 counts of falsifying business records after paying off a porn star. This is a man who promised to drain the swamp, lower prices, end the war in Ukraine, and never again engage in a “forever war.” In an interview with Wolf Blitzer in 2008, he not only said he liked Nancy Pelosi “a LOT,” but he also said George W. Bush should have been impeached for starting a war “based on a lie!”
And the MAGA people call us hypocrites? Listen up: DEAR LEADER IS LYING TO YOU!!
Now, the cult members are telling us to “be patient” about our soaring gas prices and this war-not-a-war’s devastating effect on the economy because this is all part of a bigger plan. When we point out that this is propaganda delivered directly from the White House, they resort to insulting us.
Again, THEY’VE GOT NOTHING!
At the No Kings protest in our town last Saturday, one middle-aged white guy in a passing truck called out with a sneer and a smile (a snile?), “What’s your demographic? Average age 70?” (Like that’s something we baby boomers whose fathers served during WWII would be ashamed of?). Probably the most crass shout from another red-capped wearing white guy was: “You’re all a bunch of f*ck*ng r*t*ards!”
It might be ironically funny if it weren’t so f*ck*ing sad.
The good news is that our numbers are growing, and the thumbs up and supportive car horns far outnumbered the insults and middle fingers. According to initial reports, the third NO KINGS protest on Saturday, March 28, gathered over 8 million resisters across 50 states and in cities around the globe, including Toronto, Paris, London, Rome, Madrid, and Athens. People of all ages, ethnicities, and genders participated.
Yesterday I saw X posts from noted right-wingers Megyn Kelly, Ann Coulter, and Marjorie Taylor Greene, who appear to have spit out the Kool-Aid. Perhaps this trio can influence a few more MAGAs out there to wake up and see the light.
Finally, to any of you who entered keyboard warrior mode and commented that the protests are a waste of time: They are not. History—you know, facts that cannot be changed—is on our side. Democracy requires our participation. And at this point, we can’t afford to wait until the midterm elections to drain the swamp of all this unmitigated corruption and abuse of power.
